Privacy Policy

The short version: there are no accounts. Player names, scores, streaks and drafts are saved only in your own browser. Challenge links keep your statements inside the link itself, not on our server. We use Google Analytics only if you accept cookies.

This policy explains what information is processed when you use truthsandalie.fun (“Truths and a Lie”, “we”, “us”). If you have a question, email hello@truthsandalie.fun.

1. Information we do not collect

  • We do not offer accounts, logins or sign-ups.
  • We do not ask for your name, email address, age or location to play.
  • There is no public chat, no comments and no way to publish content to other visitors.

2. Information stored in your browser

Party Mode, the Lie Lab and the Truth or Lie puzzle save a few things in your browser’s local storage so they are there next time: player names and emoji, the game in progress, your Lie Lab draft, your puzzle results and streak, and preferences such as theme and sound. This information stays on your device and is never sent to us or anyone else. You can delete it at any time with the button below, or by clearing your browser’s site data for truthsandalie.fun.

3. Challenge links

When you create a challenge link, your first name (if you add one) and your statements are stored inside the link itself, after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part of a link to our server, and challenge pages are hidden from search engines. The answer is scrambled so it is not obvious, but anyone who has the link can read the statements, so do not include private information. The result of a friend’s guess is shown only on their screen.

4. Server logs

Like every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when a page is requested: IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the time. These logs are used only to keep the site secure and working, and are deleted automatically by the host after a limited period. We do not use them to identify individuals.

5. Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and games are used, so we can improve them. It runs in Consent Mode: analytics cookies are only set if you accept them in our cookie banner, and advertising features are turned off. Your choice is remembered in this browser. You can change your mind at any time: the “Delete all data” button in section 2 removes the analytics cookies and your choice, and the banner will ask again on your next visit. Google’s use of data is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

6. Advertising

We do not currently show advertisements. Our pages include a Google AdSense verification tag that confirms we own the site; it does not load ads or set cookies. If we show ads in the future, they will come from Google AdSense, will never appear inside game screens, in big-screen mode or on challenge pages, and we will update this policy and ask for consent where the law requires it before any advertising cookies are used.

7. Children’s privacy

Truths and a Lie is a general-audience site, often used by families and teachers. It does not ask anyone for personal information, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children, including children under 13 in the United States (COPPA) and under 16 in the UK and EU. Our student ideas page reminds children not to share private details. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email hello@truthsandalie.fun and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the UK GDPR, EU GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information and to object to certain processing. Because we hold no accounts, most information is already under your control in your own browser. For anything else, email hello@truthsandalie.fun and we will respond within 30 days.

9. Security

The site is served only over HTTPS and sends modern security headers. Because we do not collect personal information, there is very little we hold that could be exposed.

10. Changes to this policy

We will update this page before we change how we handle information, and change the “Last updated” date above. If we add online rooms (playing on separate phones), this policy will explain exactly what they store and for how long before they launch.
