Editorial Guidelines

These guidelines explain who creates the content on truthsandalie.fun, how it is made, and the standards it has to meet.

Who writes the content

Content is created by the Truths and a Lie Editorial Team, the small team that runs the site. We do not use invented author names or fake reviewer credentials. When a page says it was written by the editorial team, that is exactly who wrote it.

How AI tools are used

We use AI writing tools to help draft idea lists, example rounds and puzzle candidates. A person then reviews every item before it is published: rewriting, cutting anything that is unclear, unkind or repetitive, and checking facts. AI tools are also used to help build and test the site’s code. We do not publish unreviewed AI text.

Standards for ideas

  • Clean and friendly. Everything must be suitable for a family game night, a classroom or a workplace.
  • About yourself. Ideas are first-person statements. No jokes at other people’s expense, no stereotypes.
  • Useful. Each list is organized by topic and comes with guidance on how to use it, not just a wall of text.
  • No repeats. Our build system checks that no idea appears on two pages.

Standards for Truth or Lie facts

  • True statements must be well established, not disputed or “it depends”.
  • The fake statement must be clearly false. Most are well-known myths or a real fact with one detail changed.
  • Every puzzle includes a short explanation and at least one link to a source you can check. Our build system refuses to publish a puzzle without one, and we check that every source link works.

Numbers and claims

Counts on the site, like the number of ideas or puzzles, are calculated automatically from the content itself. We do not publish made-up statistics, testimonials or ratings.
